Self Presentation-
As young adults it is very important for all of you to consistently be aware of your actions and your words. What you may not realize is that everything you say and every action you make is a direct reflection into your personality and your character. It is very important throughout your lifetime to be positive that you are portraying yourself in the best possible way. So, this assignment is going to allow you to think about your "self presentation" or the way your present (show/depict) yourself to the world and people around you. Everyday we do things that show people who we really are, even right now as seventh graders. One of the most popular ways you are presenting yourself to your peers and the rest of the world is through social media. Facebook, twitter, and other social media sites are driving forces of self presentation both positively and negatively. It is vital to remember that everything you post on the internet is officially out there for the entire world to see once it's posted. Therefore, we all need to be cautious of what we write as a 'status update'.
Our "Favorite Quotes Presentation" assignment (found below), discusses how, often times people post certain quotes on personal social media sites. This exercise is to make you aware of what you are actually saying and ultimately presenting to the world as a reflection of yourself.

Bullying-
As we are spending some time in class talking about bullying awareness and prevention this is a short clip from a friend of mine, Jaclyn Raulerson; speaking about her own bullying experiences and how we can stop this growing issue.
Today in class we learned a little about a very impressive, positive, unforgettable young man named Mattie Stepanek. Thinking about how a positive attitude can really impact your life, students are now thinking about their own life purpose and/or message.
This is the epitome of the kind of action that I hope you will learn to take as student leaders. It is not enough to want to be a leader, to simply take a class, or even to make important leadership decisions. What matters more than anything else as a leader is the action that you choose to take in a difficult situation. The situation in the video below was this: 13-year-old Natalie Gilbert had been chosen to sing the US national anthem before the start of a NBA playoff game between the Dallas Mavericks and the Portland Trail Blazers. The setting was an arena seating almost 20,000 fans but, only one out of 20,000 stood up to be a leader. Leadership can be found all around us.
